Check online eligibility separately
Revenue’s eRegistration guidance excludes companies with no Irish-resident directors from that service and points to alternative registration arrangements. Ask your adviser which current route applies. An EEA-resident director satisfying a company-law question does not necessarily mean there is an Irish-resident director for this online tax-service question.
Give the adviser a complete setup description
Provide the certificate, company number, director residence information, intended activities and expected start dates through the agreed channel. Explain where work and management will take place. A short factual summary lets the adviser identify missing details before preparing the registration rather than discovering them while trying to complete an unsuitable online workflow.
Separate tax heads from access
Discuss which taxes need registration and who will manage subsequent returns. Also ask how the company will obtain and maintain appropriate online access after registration. Having an agent handle the application does not remove the need for an operational handover. Record who receives official notices and who follows up on a query.
Allow a realistic preparation window
Do not issue launch instructions based on an assumed same-day approval. Keep the registration task visible alongside banking and invoicing preparation, with unresolved points clearly marked. For example, a sales date may need a billing-treatment review before the first invoice is sent. Ask your accountant to confirm what can proceed and what requires an official outcome first.
Your practical checklist
- Disclose every director’s residence to the adviser
- Confirm the available registration route
- Agree which tax heads require attention
- Plan access, notices and ongoing returns
- Resolve billing questions before launching sales
