A clear name is a good start. Similarity, restricted words and final CRO approval still matter. Use this guide to prepare your questions and information before applying.
Make a shortlist
Prepare more than one proposed name. Look for a name that is distinct, easy to spell and appropriate to your business. A domain name being available does not mean that the matching company name will be accepted.
Use the official register
Search existing entities using CRO CORE. A search result is a preliminary check. The CRO can reject a name on similarity or other grounds even when an exact match does not appear.
Review other rights separately
Company registration is different from trademark protection. Consider trademark searches and specialist advice when brand protection matters. Avoid implying government approval or a regulated activity without the relevant permission.
Ask us to review your proposed name
Send your proposed name with your formation enquiry. The name review is included in every package. We cannot reserve or guarantee a name simply because you complete the enquiry form.
