Choose a company structure that matches how your organisation will operate. Use this guide to prepare your questions and information before applying.
Private company limited by shares (LTD)
An LTD is a common structure for commercial businesses. It has shareholders and can have one director with a separate secretary. The formation packages on this website focus on Irish LTD incorporation.
Designated activity company (DAC)
A DAC has defined objects in its constitution and differs from an LTD in its governance requirements. Particular transactions or regulated contexts may call for a DAC. Obtain advice before choosing it.
Company limited by guarantee (CLG)
A CLG has members and a guarantee structure rather than the ordinary share ownership of an LTD. It may be appropriate for some clubs or non-profit organisations. Incorporation alone does not confer charitable status.
Other structures and tailored formation
The CRO also registers public limited and unlimited companies, among others. If your requirements are not a straightforward LTD, contact the team to discuss scope and a suitable quote.
