Collect the completed formation pack
Save the certificate, constitution and relevant ownership and officer records in an organised company file. Compare the final details with your instructions and raise discrepancies promptly. Establish who can access the records and who maintains the current versions. Avoid leaving the company’s only document pack in the inbox of a founder who rarely handles administration.
List what incorporation did not complete
Tax registration, banking and beneficial ownership work are distinct from incorporation. CRO sets the first annual return at six months; RBO gives newly incorporated relevant entities five months to file. Put the applicable dates in your calendar using the actual incorporation date, then confirm the detailed tasks and responsibilities with your advisers.
Prepare trading systems deliberately
Ask the accountant to review bookkeeping, invoicing and any tax registrations needed for your activity. Obtain the bank’s current application requirements. If you will hire staff, raise that plan before the first payment. The point of the first-month review is to remove assumptions, not to tick every system as complete merely because the company is legally registered.
Create a handover review
At the end of the month, ask each task owner to report what is complete, pending or waiting on evidence. For example, distinguish a bank application sent from an account opened. Keep official confirmations with the task record. Use the remaining questions to plan the next month rather than allowing a busy launch to hide an unresolved obligation.
Your practical checklist
- Store and review the final company documents
- Assign official correspondence and record maintenance
- Calendar actual return and ownership-filing dates
- Confirm banking, bookkeeping and tax tasks
- Review completed outcomes, not just applications sent
