Build a compliance calendar from your incorporation date

Build the calendar from official dates and your company’s actual circumstances. Distinguish a date the return is made up to from the deadline for delivering it, and schedule preparation before either becomes urgent.

Enter the first official milestones

The first CRO annual return date is six months after incorporation, with a 56-day delivery window. Newly incorporated relevant entities have five months for RBO filing. Confirm the specific dates for your company and keep the official references. Do not use another company’s dates merely because both businesses were formed in the same month.

Work backwards from delivery

Add a preparation date, information request date and review date before the deadline. Ask the filing provider how long it needs to prepare and resolve queries. A calendar entry reading only “file return” on the last day leaves no margin if a signature, identity match or document is missing. Preparation dates are internal planning choices; label them accordingly.

Add conditional and recurring tasks

Include tax work identified by your accountant, service renewals and periodic record reviews. Keep change-driven obligations visible too: a director or ownership change may arise between annual calendar events. A calendar should work alongside a notification process so people tell the coordinator when facts change rather than waiting for the next scheduled review.

Assign an owner and backup

Use a monitored calendar with clear responsibilities. If a reminder goes to an absent founder, somebody else should be able to see what is due and contact the adviser. Record evidence of completion next to the task. Review the calendar after each major change and after the first cycle of filings so it reflects the business’s actual arrangements.

Your practical checklist

  • Verify official dates for your own company
  • Distinguish return dates from delivery deadlines
  • Schedule information gathering and review early
  • Add conditional updates and service renewals
  • Assign a responsible owner and backup
