Ask the bank for the relevant route
AIB’s company application asks for company, director and beneficial-owner details, with identity evidence requirements. Other providers and routes can differ. Tell the chosen bank your structure, ownership, residence and intended activity, then ask which current application process fits. Do not assume every newly formed Irish company qualifies for an online account-opening option.
Prepare a consistent company story
Use the final certificate, legal name, ownership map and a plain description of what the business does. Explain expected customers, payment flows and locations when requested. Keep the account truthful and consistent with the information supplied to your advisers. A vague label such as “international business” may leave the bank unable to understand the actual activity.
Coordinate evidence from the right people
Ask directors and relevant owners to prepare the evidence the bank requests through its approved channel. Check that documents are current and details consistent. Do not circulate everyone’s identification in a shared founder folder merely to make coordination easier. Track whose evidence is outstanding without exposing the underlying sensitive information to unnecessary people.
Plan for questions and timing
Assign a coordinator to receive queries and obtain accurate answers. Distinguish an application submitted from an account approved and operational. Keep commercial commitments flexible while the bank assesses the application. If it is unsuitable, obtain advice about alternatives appropriate to the business rather than treating incorporation as a guarantee that another provider will accept it.
Your practical checklist
- Obtain the chosen bank’s current application route
- Prepare final company and ownership information
- Explain activity and expected payment flows clearly
- Supply identity evidence through the bank’s process
- Track queries and wait for a confirmed operational outcome
